newbie here... just want to ask lang po.. ty

guys i started this hobby last sept 2009. Right now ang gears ko lang po is nikon D90 and kitlens 18-105mm, i just sold my prime 50mm 1.8 to fund sb600 or sb800.

my question is:
1. can i still produce good image with my 18-105mm supported by sb600 or sb800? coz nabenta ko na kc yung prime ko
2. is it safe po ba bumili ng 2nd hand SB800? is there any bad issue regarding this flash thats why it is being discontinued?
3. Do u accept a newbie on this hobby in your group shot?

Hi Erwin, you can still produce great images with your kit lens, still its in the composition parin kasi for me, and about your 2nd question regarding buying 2nd hand flash, for me ok na yung brand new, why? Kasi kung low budget ka, you can buy 3rd party flashes like sigma, sunpak etc. until you feel na medyo gamay mo na ang pag gamit ng flashes, kasi when you buy 2nd hand, mas maikli na syempre yung life span ng flash mo, well dipende sa pag gamit ng unang gumamit nun, pero for me, kung bibili ka ng sb600 or sb800 na, go for the new one. Anyways welcome na welcome ka dito, welcome din ako dito eh, btw kagabi lang ako sumali dito hehe

Welcome to LAKAMBINI, Neith is right you can still have a very good photo quality using 18-105 if you can see most of my photos were taken using my kit lens 18-200 and I believed 18-105 is more accurate in terms of distortion and focusing.

Tip ko lng sa 18-105 practice to use fix focal length set it fix at ikaw ang mag adjust for your compositions.

for super wide portrait shoot : 18mm "for wide mas mganda pag clear background so you can use f7-f9 depende sa light"


for mide : 50mm and largest aperture


for better DOF, half body and close up : 105mm and use the largest aperture.


For flash you can use any ikaw na bahala kumilatis sa 2nd hand and off course everybody are welcome sa LAKAMBINI pro/amateur, even us are also in learning stage and novice din so let just enjoy the activity and share some tips.

thanks for the tips guys, actually wala na kc mabilan ng sb800 na bnew and the only available na lang na bnew is sb600, ask ko lang in terms of power of pag flash na ng lights malaki ba difference ng sb800 sa sb600 or slight lang?

ang alam ko yung lowest power ng SB600 is 1/64 lng pero yung SB800 1/128 kaya mas soft yung effect ng SB800 pero pwede nman gawan paraan lagay klng diffuser

welcome to LAKAMBINI erwin, the 18-105mm d90 kit lens has a very good review because of its IQ, kaya its considered as a very good walk around lens, though a prime lens is great at low light situations, when shooting outdoors with sufficient light the 18-105mm will perform well.
