The 24-70 2.8 is a great walk-around lens bro. Yung focal lengths na 24mm-70mm is friendlier for general everyday use- portraits, landscapes, groupies, etc.
I have a 70-200 2.8 lens. Totally loving yung smooth and creamy bokeh nya and its capability to shoot 200mm at 2.8 aperture. It's really great for portraiture and sports photography. Yun nga lang, if you're looking for a lens that can be used for group shots, landscapes, and general everyday use then this lens would not cut it because of its focal range. Plus it's quite difficult to carry around given it's enormous weight and size.
In summary, both are great lenses bro. Performance-wise, you can't go wrong with either. You just have to know what are your needs or what photography field would you possibly want to venture in making the decision over which lens to purchase.
Good luck in choosing your new baby, bro.
