Theme: Evening Glamour (strobist style)

Number of Outfits: 2 sexy/clubbing outfits per model

MUA provided: yes

Lights provided: yes

Who should attend:
- Newbies who have no idea on how a fashion/portraiture shoot is done
- Aspiring photographers looking to expand portfolio
- Photographers who like to learn and mingle
- Experts who like to share ideas
- Anyone who loves models

Location: California Garden Square condo in Mandaluyong

Number of participants: max of 6 photographers

Fees:
- 500 pesos for repeat members and early birds (payment before Thursday June 3 5pm)
- 700 pesos thereafter

- Payment to be made to BDO savings acct 540 000 1190.
- Kindly inform me of the deposit/transfer details for verification.
- Cash payment on location is also acceptable.

Yes, I know it's a bit pricey, but it's not like I'm getting a commission out of it. Those are the rates of the models plus the hotel cost.

Very seldom will we get a 500 peso nude shoot (that would mean 10 photogs per session -- and even at that price, it still won't be enough to cover overheads).

We'll just see. It's ok if it doesn't materialize. I can always organize a separate session with some other photographers I know.

Anyway, I've uploaded the photos of the model to help spark the interest.

As for the discount, I'm afraid I can't extend any, since I'm not making any profit out of it. In fact, I'm already subsidizing some parts of it. I'm just organizing this to help the group since there was some interest shown in the Nudes (NSFW) thread.

strobist style. a couple of flashes will be provided.
No studio lights, to help bring the cost down. But if everyone wants it, I can coordinate one, and we'll all just have to share the extra costs. So at the moment, it's a "bring your own lighting gear".

If you're refering to successive firing of shots, it is advisable to take turns with the rest of the group. The courteous way is to take one or two shots, then step out of the way for the next photographers to take their shots.

Guys, i think the statement is uncalled for. Mainly because we do not do such thing in this forum. We also respect our models.
Its not easy to organize a photoshoot. More so for a nude photoshoot. We should appreciate focaljam's effort to organize one. Maybe it would help explain the cost if focaljam can tell us how much goes to the model and how much goes to the hotel.
For those who can afford and have time, join na! For those who can't, enjoy the photos after they post it on the forum.
Hehe, I can't join the photoshoot, so I'll just enjoy the photos. Don't forget to share your photos...

Cost breakdown is pretty straightforward:

the usual rate of each model is 2k per hour, while the hotel room (crowne plaza) costs 5.6k. that's 29,600.00 (which still does not include other incidentals on the day of the shoot)

i convinced the models to give me a discount, provided they get a guaranteed 2 sessions each. so each model gets 10k to do two sessions. that leaves us with 4k to pay for the hotel.

my friend can give me a 20% discount on the hotel room (5.6k x .8 = 4480) which is still 480 pesos over.

MUA's fee is not yet included, but since the MUA is my friend, I'll take care of her fees.

I don't think you'd want to do that. I take good care of the models I work with. She is a woman first, and a model second. Let's treat women with respect, even if we are paying them -- we pay them for their time and effort.

And I never touch a model without her explicit permission. Not her hair, her clothing, or anything on her person. For example, if her hair needs to be fixed or is in the way, I ask the MUA to help fix it, or at the very least, I ask the model first if I can fix her hair while she holds the pose.

Same goes with posing her. I tell her to place her hand this way or move it a few inches to the left, etc. I have never touched/grabbed a model's hand or arm just to position it the way I want to.

Thanks monmon. Unfortunately the cut-off date for that Obando trip was last May 7. We were one photographer short, so it too got cancelled. The model and I just decided to do a one-on-one indoors.
